Frequently asked questions
Does the kit work on a Hostinger VPS?
Yes: a Hostinger VPS with an Ubuntu 24.04 image is handled like any VPS. The guide has a dedicated section, notably to open ports 80 and 443 in the Hostinger panel firewall, without which the HTTPS certificate cannot be obtained.
What about Coolify?
Coolify has its own proxy and official n8n templates. The guide explains how to use the "n8n with PostgreSQL and Worker" template, copy the kit's hardening settings into it and plug our backup scripts into Coolify's containers.
Do I need queue mode?
Not at first. Simple mode is enough for one team and short executions. Queue mode (Redis + worker) is switched on by changing three lines of .env when the editor slows down during executions or if your workflows call AI models on large volumes.
Can I migrate from n8n Cloud?
Yes for workflows: the guide covers exporting and importing them into your instance. Credentials must be recreated in the new instance; between two self-hosted instances, n8n's export command transfers them if the encryption key is the same.
What happens when n8n releases a new version?
You read the release notes, then run the update script with the version you want: it backs up, updates, checks health and gives you the rollback on failure. If a future version changes variables, we update the kit and email it to you.
