Your team runs the free, self-hosted n8n and the questions pile up: are we allowed to, who can see which credential, how do we stop edits going straight to production, what will the server refuse? This guide answers each one from the official texts — the licence quoted word for word, the documentation and the pricing page read on 28 October 2026, their contradictions shown — then gives you the four documents a team needs to run the instance properly.

What you get

What is inside the guide

  • 12 chapters, 29 pages

From the licence to the monthly review, with a paginated table of chapters.

  • The licence, quoted

The Sustainable Use License and n8n’s licence FAQ word for word, then eight team situations read one by one (contractors, clients, groups, customer servers).

  • Community vs paid, dated

Nineteen team features across Community, Registered Community, Business and Enterprise, prices included, and the places where docs and pricing page disagree.

  • Users and roles

What a free instance really allows (owner, members, no sharing), three team layouts without paid roles, credentials without sharing.

  • SSO in front

What an authentication gate gives and does not give, and the six paths that must stay outside it.

  • Dev and prod with Git

Two instances side by side, export and import commands, the four documented import behaviours that catch teams out.

  • Every documented limit

Concurrency, timeouts, size caps, the endpoints n8n rate-limits itself, retention — with defaults — and how to size the concurrency limit.

  • 4 templates

Onboarding and offboarding checklist, access-rights matrix (blank and filled), release procedure dev to prod, monthly instance review.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this legal advice?

No. The licence chapter quotes the Sustainable Use License and n8n’s licence FAQ word for word and applies them to common team situations. For a specific product built on n8n, the guide tells you what to send to license@n8n.io.

Does it cover n8n Cloud?

Only for comparison (plans, limits). The licence FAQ itself applies to the self-hosted version; the organisation and templates are written for self-hosted instances.

Which n8n version was checked?

The documentation, licence and pricing page were read on 28 October 2026, when the stable release was n8n 2.45.4. Every price and limit is quoted with its source so you can check it again.

Is it part of the English guides library?

No: it is sold on its own. The library keeps its two guides at its current price.

How is the guide delivered?

As an A4 PDF file, downloadable right after payment from the confirmation page; the link is also emailed to you and stays available from the “Retrouver mes achats” (find my purchases) page. The templates are printable and meant to be filled in.

What if the guide is not right for me?

14-day commercial guarantee: full refund on simple email request to admin@tech-bharat.com, no questions asked (terms and conditions, article 6).
